The Durham City Council meets on Monday evening for a regular session. These often feature routine ceremonial items at the outset.
Monday’s meeting, however, will feature an “equity before birth” proclamation.
The text has not been posted, but there is a Durham-based advocacy group by that name, Equity Before Birth. The website more or less brings together progressive political and policy advocacy to address very real maternal and infant mortality disparities, particularly relating to Black families.
This item is merely posted on the B&R as noteworthy, given the irony of the language coming from a pro-abortion body — not to mention an abortion industry that disproportionally targets Black families.
